Drone threat a new challenge on borders, says BSF

Rajouri: Terming the movement of drones a big challenge, Deputy Inspector General of BSF Frontier Headquarters, DS Sindhu on Wednesday said that anti-drone measures are being put in place as part of “guidelines on drone movement on borders.”

Sindhu said that the movement of drones on borders is a new challenge as these aerial vehicles are being used for “smuggling of arms and ammunition along with narcotics on borders”.

He said that drone is a new challenge and risk remains there on the border.

“National level guidelines for drone movement have been issued and anti-drone measures are also there at specified places,” DIG Sindhu said while talking to reporters on the sidelines of BSF’s 57th Raising Day function.

He further said that BSF is working on a counter-insurgency front in Rajouri and Poonch and have recovered a huge amount of “arms and ammunition” in twin districts which include some “sticky bomb IEDs”.

He also said that all forces are well capable to foil any “nefarious attempts on borders”, both on the Line of Control and the International border.
