Youngsters And Mental Health

Falak zahoor

Alarming rates of suicides is a severe consequence of depression and anxiety. Our society has a lean concept of depression and anxiety and hardly people suffering from it confess about it because people around him don’t understand his situation. Society has very narrow thinking about it. If by chance an ordinary person got to know about a depressed person, he will be treated like an alien or lunatic and that very thing doesn’t let the repressed person share his emotions. He gets discouraged and scolded for his behaviour instead of being encouraged or treated with love and care. We live in an era where we are getting depression or having anxiety among youngsters or teenagers is frequent. It is a most usual consequence of atmosphere we live in or things which surround us. “mental health is so important for every individual” and unfortunately now a days youngsters of our generation suffer from it and are not even able to speak about it due to the social stigma i.e “what people will say”. This very statement has ruined many lives. It is a matter of serious concern. Suicides among teens are rising day by day due to they can’t bear
their mental pressure. It makes them mentally weak and they get involved in so many wrong things. They need someone who will envisage their problem and need support, love, care, attention instead of taunts and the burden of the expectations of others. We need to normalise consulting a doctor for it and don’t have to think what society will
think, let them talk. Families need to recognize it and take the necessary steps instead of blaming the person. Visiting a psychiatrist for our mental health is not a stigma, and we need to stop treating it so. Families are requested to recognize the symptoms of depression and anxiety among your family members and deal with them lovingly, encourage them to visit a doctor and advice for youngsters who suffer it, “take one step forward, communicate to your loved ones, hurting yourself will not serve any purpose, don’t isolate yourself, you guys are equally important and no different from others, don’t hold any kind of pressure, start doing things that makes you happy and gives you peace, don’t put your life at stake, visit a doctor and most importantly pray indeed ALLAH IS THE BEST LISTENER AND PROVIDER”.
